No it’s not “the banquet”, no, that’s Sukkot. Yisra’el will have already been delivered. Here is what I am starting to ‘see’ in a passage in Rom 11:

כִּי לֹא-אֲכַחֵד מִכֶּם אַחַי אֶת-הַסּוֹד הַזֶה פֶּן-תִּהְיוּ חֲכָמִים בְּעֵינֵיכֶם שֶׁיִּשְׂרָאֵל בָּא לִידֵי טִמְטוּם הַלֵּב לְמִקְצָתוֹ עַד כִּי-יִכָּנֵס מְלֹא הַגּוֹיִם

“I am desirous, my brethren, that you should know this sod [mystery], so that you may not be wise in your own conceits; for ignorance of the heart has to some degree befallen Yisra’el, until the fullness of the Goyim shall come.”

Now, we have all likely been reading this with preconceptions, thinking that this chapter is discussing personal “salvation”; it is not. It is explaining the position of Yisra’el, the NATION, until the Torah is ‘made full’, or until everything written in the Torah is completed, just as Messiah Yeshua said it would happen, and so He would NOT “abolish” the Torah. [Matt 5:17-19].

This verse above is compelling, since Iyov [Job] asks, “Have you heard the “sod” of Elohim? Do you restrain wisdom unto yourself?” 15:8

Shaul, a Jew of Jews, who longed for Yisra’el to ‘see’ Messiah as he did [Rom 10:1], is telling us here that the Jewish People, as a NATION, will one day believe in Messiah Yeshua in a moment, together. That it will no longer be just a ‘remnant’, a small portion of Jews trusting in the resurrection and ‘salvation’ of Yah in Messiah Yeshua, but the whole nation. Shaul is telling us WHEN this will happen. And he tells us that this is a ‘sod’.

What is a ‘sod’: a sod is a ‘mystery’, a secret, something that must be ‘sought out’. “It is the glory of Elohim to hide a matter, it is the glory of kings to seek the matter out.” [Proverbs 25:2] “Surely, Adonai יהוה will do nothing, but that He “galah sodo”, reveals His Mystery, unto His servants, the Nevi’im”. Amos 3:7

Shaul was taught by Hillel’s grandson, Gamaliel. Yeshua affirmed the house of Hillel as the correct ‘ruling body’ among the Pharisees, and taught many of the same things Hillel taught; he even taught in the same ‘method’ as Hillel. Part of that methodology of the study of scriptures was that there are linguistic ‘links’ that help us find the ‘sod’, the things that Yah has ‘hidden’ in the Torah. Our parasha this week discusses this: “The secret things belong unto יהוה our God; but the things that are revealed belong unto us and to our children forever, that we may do ALL THE WORDS OF THIS TORAH.

“Revealed” is niglot, the same word as “hitgalut”, the book of Revelation, which is clearly a ‘sod’ that has been “revealed”. Remember, Shaul wrote this before Yokhanan wrote “Hitgalut”/Revelation.

In this verse in Romans 11, then, there are two connections to the “sod” Shaul wants us to ‘see’, so that we do NOT get puffed up in our own ‘salvation’. They are: סּוֹד,and יִכָּנֵס מְלֹא.
The ‘besora’ [good news] itself was a “sod” hidden in plain sight from the creation up to the Messiah [Rom 16:25, 1Cor 2:7, Eph 3:9]. Those who now trust Messiah see it so easily that we take it for granted how powerful it is and how replete with the news of Messiah is the Torah. We don’t ‘learn’ to think in that way, nor to examine scriptures in that way. There are seven methods and four levels of studying scripture which Hillel taught, Gamliel taught, and in which Shaul was proficient; and Shaul wrote by the power of the Ruakh, using those methods. The “twelfth level”, if you will, is the movement of the Ruakh to help us “see” what is in there. But, that does not happen without our ‘seeking a matter out’. I believe both Shaul and the Ru’akh of Messiah want us to ‘look deeply’ into this verse! It’s important. If someone tells me there is a ‘mystery’, I want to understand it!

Incidentally, this level of “equivalent terms” is called Gezera Shava. When we see terms that are prominent in a passage, and they are prominent in other passages, we can ‘see’ a wider truth being expressed. I’ve taught this method for years, without telling what the method is called.

There’s a ‘neon sign’ in this verse pointing at two terms.

סּוֹד, and יִכָּנֵס מְלֹא are prominent terms in this verse.

The “Besorah”, the good news of Messiah, is a mystery now revealed to those who trust: Messiah is risen from the dead and now dwells in those who trust in that fact. Only one other time in Shaul’s letters does he tease us with a mystery other than the Besorah. I mentioned it yesterday in this post: הִנֵּה סוֹד אֲגַלֶּה לָכֶם “Hineh, SOD agaleh lakhem”, BEHOLD, I REVEAL TO YOU ALL A SOD. 1 Cor 15:51 is the passage. This links us back to Amos 3, where verse six says that a Shofar will be blown in the city! And where it says He will reveal His sod before hand! What sod? When the shofar will be blown, and what will happen!

Since he sets this ‘sod’ apart in such a distinct fashion, and does the same in Romans 11:25, it is not unreasonable to consider that these two verses elucidate the same “sod”. Here, that ‘sod’ is that we will not all die, that we will be instantly changed at the LAST SHOFAR [Yom Teru’ah], and snatched up into the heavens . Sha’ul FILLS that verse with Gezera Shava! With ‘links’ to the rest of the mystery, linking that verse, and this one in Romans 11, to many passages in Isaiah, Joel, Deuteronomy, Zechariah, Matthew, Luke, Thessalonians 1 and 2, and of course, Revelation!

But here, he is telling us a ‘sod’, a mystery, and in Romans 11 he’s telling us a sod, too, that should keep us from getting ‘proud’ about our salvation. He’s also telling us, as he alluded to in the fifteenth verse, that when Jews receive Messiah , THE RESURRECTION will occur!

Sod is usually speaking about THE RESURRECTION. Isn’t the whole point of the “Besorah” that Yeshua is risen from the dead? [Acts 2, Acts 9 are two places where the Besorah is perfectly and PLAINLY declared.] This ‘mystery’ unfolds throughout the Psalms: “Proclaim the good news of Yeshua every day!” בַּשְּׂרוּ מִיּוֹם-לְיוֹם, יְשׁוּעָתוֹ. That last word on the left, [Hebrew goes from right to left] has the name of Yeshua, which means “Salvation”. But here it has two more letters, and means, “His Yeshua/His Salvation”. What most don’t ‘see’ is that the second to the last letter is a “t” in paleo Hebrew, and it means “signature” or “sign/seal”, and that last letter is a nail! The ‘sod’ of Yeshua’s death and resurrection is throughout the writings of the Prophets! Psalm 22 is rife with imagery, in the plain text, AND in the Gezera Shava, and in the letters and strokes of the pen!

So, to the “sod”. A “sod” is a council, an ASSEMBLY, AND a ‘mystery’, depending on context and conjugation. Since Sha’ul used “niglah”, we know in this context it is the ‘mystery’. What is the ‘mystery’ of Rom 11:25?

That the GATHERING of the GOYIM will come to pass!

Kanas, the root of יִכָּנֵס, is an “assembly”. This is the root of “K’nesset”, a term most have heard regarding Israel’s ‘congress’ or ‘parliament’. The ancient ‘synagogue’ was actually called, Beit K’nesset, or Assembly House [which is roughly what ‘synagogue’ means in greek].

This is a hint.

Psalm 33 says that יהוה gathers the ‘waters’ together. Kanas et hamayim. “Assembles the waters”.

Read the first six verses, and we see that there are some Tzadikim who are rejoicing, they are singing before יהוה , using harps.

Revelation tells us that those assembled around the Throne have harps. Rev 5:8-9 tells us that they have harps, and they sing a NEW SONG, just as Psalm 33:3 states, Sing with a new song, TERUAH!

Yom Teru’ah is nearly upon us!  We are barely more than two weeks away from it.

Yom Teru’ah is also Yom HaZikkaron,  “The Day of The Remembrance.” Remembering what? THE CREATION.

Psalm 33:6 does that, then tells us he ‘gathers’ the waters. Remember, A “sod” is an assembly, a ‘kanas’ is an assembly, and so is an “etzah”.

Yah begins to punish the earth, but protects the righteous ones, keeping them alive!

Kings do not ‘escape’ on horses! They escape through righteousness!

Psalm 147 echoes all these same themes, with Kanas being the “assembly” of Yisrael in the second verse, with our singing with harps in verse 7.

I only WISH I had time to follow every trail to all the many places where we ‘see’ that Yom Teru’ah is the assembly of the Righteous!  Above!  It happens in Hitgalut 4.

But, what is M’loh HaGoyim?
מְלֹא הַגּוֹיִם

This takes us to a very distinct place in scripture:

“I know it, my son, I know it; he also shall become a people, and he also shall be great; howbeit his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his seed shall become ‘the fullness of the nations.”
וְזַרְעוֹ יִהְיֶה מְלֹא-הַגּוֹיִם.
Ephraim, “Fruitfulness” will become the “Fullness of THE NATIONS”.

The tribe of Ephraim was scattered into the nations 2700 years ago.

Ephraim is not a tribe of its own, however. It is of the tribe of Yosef.

And Yosef is a “fruitful vine”. See Genesis 49. In Deut 33, he receives the ‘wordiest’ blessing, and is seen as having the ‘blessing’ upon his head, and he wears a ‘crown’ and is a prince among his brethren.

Those who played harps in Revelation 5 also wore crowns.

There are so many links in here, but we will look briefly at just one: Nezir! A prince.

This is a NAZARITE, an ‘untrimmed vine!’ A devoted one. This leads us to the yovel, the ‘clock of יהוה ’, but I don’t even have time to go there!

But, look at what the Torah says about the “Nezir”: Numbers 6:13
בְּיוֹם, מְלֹאת יְמֵי נִזְרוֹ, יָבִיא אֹתוֹ, אֶל-פֶּתַח אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד

“When the days of his ‘separation/devotion’ are FULL, BRING HIM TO THE OPENING OF THE TENT OF MEETING!”  Most people don’t realize that Yeshua is RIGHT NOW a Nezir.  He vowed not to drink of the fruit of the vine again, until He comes back to earth!

The “gate” is what is opened in Revelation 4 when the shofar is blown, and in Isaiah 26:2.
So, the ‘sod’ of Romans 11:25 is YOM TERUAH, it is the GATHERING of the NATIONS at the OPENING of the tent of Meeting, heralded by the blowing of the last shofar! Which is ONLY blown on Yom Teru’ah!

Shofar so good….

I don’t know yet if I will post this, but I have been fighting the urge to write something of this nature for quite some time, and have finally given in at least to write it. It is currently July 30. If the post date is later than that, that’s how long it took me to write it, and to pray and decide to post it or not to post it.

Thirty years ago, I began to take my faith seriously. I was a submarine sailor, and I was confused about many of life’s issues, such as career, money, family, marriage, friendships, and righteousness. I was not a happy young man. My grandmother had given me a bible when I was fourteen years old, and I always took it to sea with me; it rested in a cubbyhole at the head of my bunk for two and a half patrols, and I never read it. On my third patrol, my circumstances drove me to read it. I had been seeing a girl named Noelle, and she had hurt me pretty badly after my second patrol, just before the third one started. I had a close friend on the boat who clammed up at sea. My family was not writing letters nor using “family-grams” to stay in touch with me. The crew was miserable due to a sour command that seemed to stoke bad morale deliberately. But, most importantly, I was not walking with my G-d. This ‘perfect storm’ of chaos in my mind drove me to the point where I finally reached in and picked up my Bible. Before I opened it, I prayed, “Father, I want to know what Jesus would say to me if He were standing here,” and I could practically ‘see’ the Messiah standing at the side of my top bunk as I prayed that prayer. I meant business.

[I’ll be citing the Aramaic-sourced ‘new testament’ text, as I trust it better than the greek-sourced texts I used to read. Given where Messiah has led me, and what was revealed to me that day some 30 years ago, I feel it necessary to stay true to the root of the scriptures, even in relating what happened that day. Let me say that I ALWAYS viewed Yeshua as Jewish, even as a child. And on this day I ‘saw’ Him that way.]

I opened the book to Matthew 5 and began to read.

When Yeshua saw the crowds, He went up to the mountain; and as He sat down, His Talmidim drew near to Him. And He opened His mouth and taught them, and He said, “Happy are the poor in spirit, for theirs is Malkhut HaShamayim. Happy are they who mourn, for they shall be comforted. Happy are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. Happy are those who hunger and thirst for tzedaka, for they shall be well satisfied. Happy are the merciful, for to them shall be mercy. Happy are those who are pure in their hearts, for they shall see Elohim. Happy are those who make shalom, for they shall be called sons of Elohim. Happy are those who are persecuted for the sake of tzedaka, for theirs is Malkhut HaShamayim.  Happy are you, when they reproach you and persecute you, and speak against you every kind of bad word, falsely, for my sake, then, be glad and rejoice, for your reward is increased in heaven; for in this very manner they persecuted the Nevi’im who were before you.”

Even though it has been so long ago, I still remember very vividly and deep within me that these words, though I had heard them all of my life, were brand new to me that day. I ‘saw’ that Yeshua was not describing several different groups of people, as I had for some reason always understood this passage, but that He was describing ONE PERSON: HIS TALMID [follower/student]. Each of these attributes is a facet of the total character of each person who follows Messiah, refracting slightly different strata of the same light, like facets on a diamond. Combined, this is the ‘goal’ of a believer, since Yeshua Himself embodied all of these qualities. Immediately, I knew that I did not have any of these attributes. I was hording money, I was callous, proud, unclean, merciless, impure, violent, and so far from anyone knowing that I had confessed “Jesus” years before, that I had not experienced persecution for the sake of righteousness since the fourth grade. My heart was broken.

I read further. Yeshua explained that we are to light our lamp and set it on a table for everyone to see. Clearly my life was shrouded in darkness, as I would only ‘talk to the LORD’ in private, when I was in need. Then, I read three more verses:

“Do not expect that I have come to weaken the Torah or the Nevi’im; I have not come to weaken it, but to expound it. For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not even one yod, nor a stroke, shall pass away from the Torah until everything comes to pass. Whoever therefore tries to loosen even one of these smallest mitzvot, and teaches men so, he shall be regarded as small in Malkhut HaShamayim; but anyone who observes and teaches them, he shall be regarded as great in Malkhut HaShamayim. For I say to you that unless your tzedaka exceeds that of the Sofrim and P’rushim, you shall not enter Malkhut HaShamayim.”

These verses had a profound effect on me that day, even though I did not fully understand their impact then. But, what I did do was determine that I would learn. During the rest of that third patrol, I read the whole “Brit Khadasha” [Matthew to Revelation] twice.

Yeshua went on and taught the Torah in Matthew 5-7 and I continued reading that day. He was teaching about murder and offerings in the House of G-d, about adultery and its relationship to lust, about divorce and what Torah meant in prescribing divorce, about oaths of the Torah, and how to fulfill them, about how to love our neighbor according to Torah, about tzedaka [righteous deeds of Torah], about proper attitudes in prayer in the House of G-d, about forgiveness and helping us to understand the depth of it, about fasting, about trusting Elohim, about judgment and mercy, and that only those who DO these things the way HE taught them would be accepted into the Kingdom of Elohim at the judgment. I determined in my heart to learn how to do these things, His way. I knew then that I was so far off the mark, even though I believed. I knew that I ‘said’ I was a ‘christian’, but that the Messiah’s ‘anointing’ [the root word of ‘christian’] was not evident in my life very much at all. He was anointed according to Torah. He did what His Father instructed. He lived out the intent of Torah in His life here.

It has been a long road. I first went back into the Baptist churches, because that’s where I had been raised. I quickly saw that they were not really interested in the things of Messiah, but only in getting other people to ‘join the church’, and after that, maybe they’d try to get them to be “nice”. They did seem to be interested in bringing people to Messiah, but not in teaching them HOW He expects them to live, but how THEY expected them to live. They lopped off the commandments, and misrepresented the ‘new testament’ scriptures with lofty ‘hermeneutics’. It frustrated me. The text was plain. Why could they not just read it and ‘hear’ what it said?

I investigated all major protestant faiths, visiting churches of most of the major denominations, but I found that they were not teaching the ways of Messiah in any great measure either, but most of them were perpetuating the idea that grace means one does not have to obey: sins are forgiven, and the same behaviors forever abided. Perhaps each person prayed, “forgive me of my sins” each night, but there was no effort to find out what those sins were, and no effort to change them. Since I was devouring the Psalms daily, phrases like “search me O G-d, and see if there is any wicked way in me”, and “show me my hidden faults”, showed me that the attitude of prayer in scripture did not match the attitude being taught. I believed in grace still, wholeheartedly, but I learned that the grace of G-d compels me to obey: “It is His kindness that leads us to t’shuva [repentance, returning to Torah].” Rom 2:4

Most of you know that I am now Messianic, if you have watched my facebook page at all. A mere year and a half after what I described above, I ‘found’ myself in a Messianic Jewish Synagogue in Jacksonville, Florida. I was moved to tears that very first visit. The Shabbat started, I was wearing a kippah for the first time in my life, feeling a bit odd doing so, but I was moved by the sanctity in the room, by the reverence and the joy. I soon got lost in the Torah with the ‘Rabbi’, who was showing the Messiah from the book of Genesis. I distinctly remember telling myself that day, “If I EVER practice “religion” with men again, it will be in this way, because THIS is the WAY of Messiah.” I had no idea where that thought would lead me to thirty years later. I also had no idea I had Jewish ancestry on both sides of my family, until about eight years later. Some say that is why it moves me so; I don’t know. I believe it to be His Breath in me that moves me when I hear His Word rightly expounded.

I said all of that to say this: Since that time, that day on the submarine thirty years ago, I have been compelled to try to lead people to the faith of Messiah. I have had some great successes, and sadly some great failures. I have failed Messiah in far too many ways. But, for some reason, He continues to lift me up, dust me off, and push me back into the mix. He practically has had to force me in past times to continue to try to bring people to Him and His Word, His Torah, [Is 2:3], because there simply is not a great desire on people’s parts to leave their sins behind, and there is such a great misunderstanding among christians about the beauty of Torah. One day I actually told Him that I would NOT talk about Him and the Torah again. I remember saying, “I’m done. Find someone else.” That day was about twelve or thirteen years ago. On that VERY DAY, mere moments later, a Catholic man came up to me and started asking me questions about the Bible again [not the first time that’s happened], out of the blue. I smiled inside and obliged.

Today, and very often over these past few months, I begged Abba to allow me the privilege of speaking about Messiah Yeshua and His Torah to anyone, even though I do it before a congregation every week on Shabbat. I plead with Him to give me a chance to proclaim the death of Messiah, the Son of G-d. Hence this epic post. The nature of my new job has not allowed for that, as I have been by myself most of the time during the day. On my last job, I had many opportunities to tell people that G-d’s Son had been sent, that He had opened the Way to the forgiveness of sin, to freedom from the guilt of our many trespasses, and that He has enabled us to gain eternal life through faithfulness to His Word.

What is my motivation? Many might think that I just want to make a name for myself, feel good about myself, promote some commodity or product from which I can profit, or any such other manmade, selfish motivation. That is not it at all. So: Why? Why do I want to shout from the rooftops that Messiah Yeshua, the Jewish Savior, has died for the transgressions of the world and called all who would trust in His Resurrection BACK to the Tzedaka of Torah?

Because the world we know is about to change DRASTICALLY.

I ‘saw’ it coming twenty years ago, and thought I would write a book and try to warn people. I wrote the book, gave it away, publishing it myself, just to TRY to get people thinking about their own walk with Messiah Yeshua, about their own lamp, whether it had light, whether it had died out, whether it was blackened with the soot of sin.

Recently I have been posting things to facebook, scriptures that tell of the wonder of the Torah, of the great benefit of it, of Messiah’s own call to obey it. Why?

Because our world is about to go up in smoke.

Our whole way of life is about to vanish. The prosperity that America has enjoyed is about to disappear. The whole world is likely about to be at war again, and this is going to bring our country to its knees this time. There is NOTHING we can do politically to fix what is coming. I want you to understand, if you have read this far, that I am NOT a republican, NOT a democrat, NOT a libertarian. I could not care less about political parties and the governments of men. I am a follower of Messiah who understands that when a people reject righteousness to the degree our country has, our world has, for over 100 years, there is eventually a tipping point. We have already crossed it. The ship has already hit the unseen iceberg, and here I am, a mere boatswains mate trying to tell the passengers, “we’re sinking!”  Much like the Titanic, we are lost in our comfort and wealth, and oblivious to it.  For a season.

I am one who has studied prophecy for more than thirty years. The book I wrote starting twenty-nine years ago, published almost 18 years ago, was wrapped in prophecy, because I do see the signs of the return of Messiah in the world. But, even without THOSE things, I see our world changing, merely as a result of the audacity of sin. Man has become ARROGANT in his sin. He mocks G-d. Those who don’t want to obey Him at all say that He does not exist. That is absolutely laughable. Those who want to give Him lip service SAY they love Him, and they do things for Him that they think will gain His favor, but they refuse to obey HIS WORD. And they continue in their disobedience, almost flippantly, touting ‘grace’ as an excuse for disobedience. Man has gotten to the point where he abides every kind of wickedness, and teaches his children that all of it is “okay”, “don’t judge”, simply because Almighty G-d has, to them, been silent for so long. Yet His Word rings EVER LOUDER: “REPENT”. [“Turn back to His Torah”]

Forty years ago, the things that our children now view as “normal” would have SHOCKED us: babies slaughtered every day, into the millions; babies killed as they leave the birth canal, or even AFTER birth, having scissors plunged into their necks; boys holding hands in school [and worse], girls holding hands in school, men marrying men, women marrying women; babies being born out of wedlock at alarming rates, 50% + of ‘christian’ marriages ending in divorce; fornication is now the normal sexual practice even for kids as young as 10 years old; drugs have become even more ‘glamorous’; psychotics eat the faces off of their neighbors; people kill for sport; politicians expose themselves publicly without any remorse; so-called ‘intellitgence’ communities tear at the government and spy on the people, people, even children, tattoo their bodies and faces, embedding pagan symbols into their flesh, remembering the dead in their flesh, decorating their bodies given to them by Elohim, defacing the Sanctuary of Elohim [‘christian’ bodies] with graffiti, yet claiming to believe in Him. These and many other things would have turned our stomachs forty years ago. Never mind all the political mayhem and circus politics that has been going on. These atrocities are enough to know that we are about to reap what we have sown. The worst of it all is this:

Those who do not do such things as these sit idly by and allow certain ones to dare them to say anything about it.

Those who say they believe in G-d have capitulated into silence.

So, what do I think is going to happen? Well, first, let’s talk about how I might ‘know’ anything is going to happen at all. In the midst of all of the iniquity listed above, the political arena in this country has suffered. “Where Tzedaka is PERVERTED there is no justice.” Because all the iniquity described above is smiled upon, winked at, ‘tolerated’, we have elected lawmakers who do not understand real justice, since our voting base does not understand righteousness anymore, to ANY degree. Since that is true, our laws have actually become such that they not only do not heed the words of the Almighty as they once tried to, but they completely contravene His principles. Today, it has reached its zenith, where the whole country is subject not only to unrighteous lawmakers and their laws, but to leadership that is bereft of conscience whatsoever, who lie to the people daily; the public conscience has been seared as with a hot iron. Most are completely and utterly contemptible toward protecting life, toward faithfulness in marriage, toward purity, and toward self-governance. People are so violent against any hint of a call for a return to righteousness that they paint anyone who would dare voice it as an enemy of the state. Count me in!

Government “of the people” was understood by the founders this way: that the people themselves were submitted to the Almighty, and would choose the proper legislators and executives as a result. They even warned us of what would happen if we did not. That has not been the case in quite some time. Consequently, we are now being forced into submission to a nanny state. Why? Because, though most claim to be ‘christian’, the behaviors above run through all strata of society, and anyone who is faithful to His Word is silent about it. Not only so, but most who confess the Messiah still participate in all of the wickedness, watching movies that promote sexual debauchery, witchcraft, mythology, foul language, etc. Do we not realize that the money spent in these endeavors goes to promote all the wickedness described above,  and is used to make sure the next generation has no memory of clean living?

The ‘powers that be’ know that economically it is all about to crumble, they’re not fools; and they will need MORE power to retain their high status when it does crumble, because the people will move into utter anarchy when they are starving. History proves this over and over again.

I warned people in ’08 that all of this would be ushered in by the former ‘head-what’s-in-charge’ if they put him in the office. Some of you may remember, as I tried to get people to see it coming then. I was shocked at how many of my peers were already sold on the “hope and change”, and actually voted for this guy. I, a person who has black family members who love me, and whom I love, was accused of being racist simply because I suggested not voting for the first black presidential candidate. They did not care to hear that I voted for Alan Keyes in primaries several times, a very intelligent BLACK man, when voting for a black man wasn’t en vogue! And in the future, I’d happily vote for Allen West, an intelligent, articulate, and sensible man, who happens to be of color, and make him president instead.  Or any person whose character is true, regardless of color. It is not color of skin that compels me to vote, but the integrity of the person I might choose to represent me.

Now, before you jump to conclusions, NO, I do not watch conspiracy theory movies, nor do I visit websites that might tout what’s coming. I read from the Jerusalem Post occasionally for all my news, including US news. And things look pretty good right now, as we have had an economic turn-around of late.  But, have we truly had any real ‘repentance’ toward G-d and His ways?  If not, then we are not out of the woods yet.

BUT, this is not a message of “doom and gloom”. But a message that there IS a place of safety in Messiah Yeshua! I wholeheartedly predict that many will begin to ‘seek the truth,’ finally. But, unfortunately, the ‘shepherds’ of the people will be salivating even more for money during that time, rejoicing in the full pews and NOT in the opportunity to teach Tzedaka to the people. [Ezekiel 34] They will still tout “grace” as a means to ignore the Torah and perpetuate sin. They do not understand grace at all. In all likelihood, scapegoat-ism will rear its ugly head, and it will not surprise me if the Jewish people get blamed somehow, along with the few who dare to keep His Torah and preach Tzedaka [Righteousness].

So, allow me to solicit your thoughts on certain matters, if I may. I am asking those of you who know you love the Messiah to consider that His Father was Elohim, the Almighty G-d. That Almighty G-d created the Sabbath for all mankind, to which Yeshua attested:

“The Sabbath was made for MANKIND, and not mankind for the Sabbath”.
Mark 2:27

Yeshua is referring to Genesis 2, here, where G-d blessed the SEVENTH DAY. He did not bless the first day. He created the Sabbath as His last act of creating. We pray a prayer, “though made last…” concerning Sabbath in our congregation. The Sabbath was made…for all of us.

My question, then, is an honest question offered in love: Who changed the Sabbath Day?

Did G-d? Did the Messiah change it, after declaring that it was made for all mankind? Do you understand that the word Sabbath means “Seventh Day”? It is a day of rest, but it is the SEVENTH DAY, and it was instated at the creation, NOT for the Jews only! But for all mankind.

So, WHO changed it? I beg you to consider this. And I ask you to read further and allow me to show you who changed it. Not only so, but I would like you also to consider, with all my heart, who changed the other Holy Days of G-d, which the Messiah Yeshua also observed? Passover, Matzot, First Omer, Shavuot, all of which detail the first coming of Messiah and his death, burial and resurrection, as shadows of what is to come. Also Yom Teru’ah, Yom Kippur, and Sukkot, which teach us very clearly of the details of His return. [Colossians 2:17]

Who changed these feasts to Easter, Halloween, and Christmas? Who changed the Sabbath to “Sun-day”.

I will tell you: the Spirit of the Lying Messiah. You may call it “Antichrist”.

This is the spirit that will one day possess an individual who will rule the world, very soon. But, this ‘spirit’ has been in the world for millennia. It does not go after the lost, but after believers, to deceive them. It was in the world in the first century, and already lying to ‘christians’ then, those who confessed that they believed in Yeshua as the Messiah. Yokhanan [John] had to remind them that this spirit was already around, as a warning of great danger:

“My little children, it is the last days; and as you have heard that the Lying Messiah will come, even NOW there are many lying messiahs, and from this we know that it is the last days”.
I John 2:18

“The Ruakh of Elohim [Spirit of G-d] is known by this: every spirit that declares that Yeshua the Messiah is come in the flesh is from Elohim. And every spirit which does not declare that Yeshua the Messiah is come in the flesh is not from Elohim. This is the spirit of the Lying Messiah, which you have heard that it should come into the world, and even now is already in the world.”
I John 4:2-3

This is a clear warning that there is a presence in the world that means to deceive the people of Messiah. Shaul [Paul] wrote of it too:

“Now the Ruakh clearly says that in the last days some shall DEPART from the faith, giving ear to seducing spirits, and doctrines of demons.”
1 Tim 4:1

Both Yokhanan and Sha’ul declare that the believers had heard of and that the Ru’akh had spoken of this “lying Messiah”. Many think that the “Holy Spirit” whispered in their ears and told them this, but do not realize that the Ru’akh wrote the Tanakh [the Torah, Prophets, and Poets], and that reading of him is how they had ‘heard’ of the lying Messiah:

“He shall be a serpent by the way, an adder in the path, that bites the horse’s heels, so that his rider shall fall backward.”
Gen 49:17

“In that day יהוה with His sore and great and strong sword will punish Leviathan the slant serpent, and Leviathan the tortuous serpent; and He will slay the dragon that is in the sea.”
Isaiah 27:1

“He shall speak great words against the Most High, and shall wear out the set apart ones, and HE SHALL THINK TO CHANGE THE APPOINTED TIMES [FEASTS] AND THE TORAH.”
Daniel 7:25

“Appointed Times” are specific: Leviticus 23:2, “These are the Appointed Times of  יהוה .” The first one is the Sabbath, and the other seven are listed above in the same order they are listed in Leviticus.

So, it is the spirit of the Lying Messiah, that has been in the world for at least 2000 years, [really, it was in the garden of Eden too, however, but Yokhanan’s letter was written before 90AD, so it has been at least that long], that would CHANGE THE FEASTS and the TORAH.

But, when did this happen? When did the christian world CHANGE? Most of you may think that it was very, very early in the cycle of ‘christian’ observance. It was not. True, there were second century ‘confessors’, a handful, who observed the ‘Sunday Sabbath’ as the “Lords Day”, but were they right to do so? Does that mean that no ‘christians’ were still keeping the Sabbath and the Passover? No. Look at history carefully. More importantly, where is it written that Almighty G-d gave authority to men to CHANGE HIS FEASTS and to IGNORE SCRIPTURE?  That is the claim for those who adhere to sunday and easter-keeping.  It is not written that we have that authority, but it is written that the “Antichrist”, the “Anti-Messiah”, the Lying Messiah, the “Son of Perdition”, would do so. And, it is written that the ‘spirit’ that would possess him was already in the world in the first century. So, WHEN, I ask you lovingly, did your forefathers STOP observing the Sabbath?

Check the book of Acts, and you will see that ALL believers, Jewish and Gentile, worshipped Elohim on the Sabbath, and that it was a LIE that was spread that they changed the Torah for Jews and for Gentiles.  Go ahead.  Read the book of Acts.  I’ll wait…..

It happened ‘officially’ starting in 325AD.

“On the venerable Day of the Sun let the magistrates and people residing in cities rest, and let all workshops be closed. In the country, however, persons engaged in agriculture may freely and lawfully continue their pursuits; because it often happens that another day is not so suitable for grain-sowing or vine-planting; lest by neglecting the proper moment for such operations the bounty of heaven should be lost.”

This is Constantine. It is after he called the Pagan sign “Sol Invictus” the “Sign of the Cross”, and went to war in the name of ‘christ’. It was at the Battle of the Milvian bridge in 308 where he ‘claimed’ to be ‘christian’, and shortly thereafter declared HIS empire to be a ‘christian’ Empire. And 11 years later, he made it LAW that “The Venerable Day of the Sun” would be the day of rest. He changed the ‘law’.

So, indeed, the first thing he did was change the Appointed Times and the Torah. But, it did not end there. He further declared the Passover of the Jews to be “disgusting”. Even though MOST of his ‘empire’ who believed in the Messiah actually KEPT THE PASSOVER WITH THE JEWS! He was a rabid anti-Semite, and it did not take long for it to manifest, and to officially change the other “Appointed Times”.

“Therefore, this irregularity [keeping the Sabbath and feasts with Jews!] must be corrected, [it was a CHANGE in the FEASTS as Daniel predicted] in order that we may no more have any thing in common with those parricides, and the murderers of our Lord. … no single point in common with the perjury of the Jews.” [Ecclesiastical History by Theodoret, Book 1, Chapter 9, concerning the matters transacted at the Council, addressed to those overseers who were not present]

Now, if you’re an anti-Semite, this rings true for you. But, if you recognize that he is saying that things must CHANGE, you see that many in the empire were STILL keeping the Passover, TOGETHER WITH JEWS. Check the History, the believers in Messiah got along with the wider Jewish community for a long, long time, even though some gentiles were already trying to break away from the Jewish community. Constantine, however, and his followers, made it LAW! He FORCED CHANGE, and a subsequent division between Jews and “Messianic” believers.

If you read history further, you find that another law had to be written a mere 80 some odd years later, to FORCE people to QUIT observing the Sabbath and the Passover, STILL, and the other feasts, with Jews, on PAIN OF DEATH. Can you really justify a DEATH PENALTY sentence for KEEPING THE SABBATH of of GOD ALMIGHTY with the JEWS? If you can, you are of the spirit of the Lying Messiah.

The overseers who were not present at his ‘council of churches’ were the Jewish Overseers of the congregations around the empire, and the Gentile overseers who would NOT go to the council of Nicea, because Constantine would not permit the Jewish Overseers to go! Out of some 2500 overseers around the empire, only around 250 actually went. So, a TEN PERCENT showing of overseers decided the fate of the ‘christian empire’; and that 10 percent began KILLING anyone who disagreed with them on these two matters, and on one more: Who Messiah is.

The Council of Nicea DENIED that Yeshua is come in the FLESH!

They delared this: “He is said to be “one in being with The Father”. Eusebius of Caesarea attributed the term homoousios, or “consubstantial, i.e., “of the same substance” (of the Father), to Constantine, who, on this particular point, may have chosen to exercise his authority. The significance of this clause, however, is extremely ambiguous, and it would be hotly contested for centuries, before the final ‘Trinitarian formula’ was accepted. It, too, was forced on the wider ‘christian empire’ by the DEATH PENALTY.

“Homoousios” is the issue. “One SUBSTANCE”.
This DENIES that Yeshua is FLESH AND BONE!

“Behold, my hands and feet, that it is I myself: HANDLE ME, and SEE, for a SPIRIT DOES NOT HAVE FLESH and BONES, as you see me have.” Luke 24:39

For Constantine to declare that “jesus” is the same SUBSTANCE with the father is to make him NOT A HUMAN, it denies Him of His BODY, since the scriptures say that the Father, Elohim, is SPIRIT! Yeshua said so HIMSELF!

“Elohim is RUAKH [Spirit], and they that worship HIM must do so in spirit, and in TRUTH”.
John 4:24

THIS IS THE “SPIRIT OF THE LYING MESSIAH”, that Yokhanan warned us about!

THIS IS THE SPRIIT OF THE LYING MESSIAH, which you have heard that it should come into the world, and even now is already in the world.
I John 4:2-3

Please pray, read the scriptures, and see if this is not true! OUR FATHERS INHERITED LIES!

And the liar who foisted these deceits on the ‘christian empire’ was NOT EVEN A BELIEVER! He waited until his DEATH BED to consider being ‘immersed’, and when he did, he was ‘baptized’ by a man who did NOT accept his ‘homoousios’ clause! Eusebius!

THIS is the man who began to ‘change the seasons and the torah’ officially, with the backing of the state. And those who came after him eventually had to use MURDER in order to get the majority of the people to comply. One day soon, this SAME SPIRIT will govern the whole world. And, I tell you now, our country is governed by this SAME SPIRIT.

They are now changing the Torah: making it ‘legal’ for men to marry men, women to marry women, and for babies to be murdered in the womb and out. This was done in the ‘churches’ first through capitulation to sin, and now it is becoming the law of the land. So, we cannot utterly blame the lawmakers. ALL of this stems from that acquiescent, fearful attitude of those 250 “bishops” nearly 1700 years ago, who had no courage to stand for the TRUTH. They caved, because the world leader told them they needed to. They wanted the power he offered, and feared death. They themselves were not of Messiah, because the people of Messiah do not fear the death threats of MEN: Rev 2:10, 12:11, Matt 10:28.

Is this really who you want to follow? Or would you follow Messiah, and imitate Him, who Himself kept the Appointed times of His Father?  As did ALL His first-century followers, Jewish AND Gentile.

If you check the rest of scripture, you find that this ‘spirit of the lying Messiah’ is a killer of the people of Messiah. It always has been, and always will be. Since “Tzedaka” means ‘innocent’, this spirit goes to killing the ‘innocent’ first. Babies. Before it has to oppose thinking adults. It does so to eliminate the possibility of children hearing of the truth, and following the truth. It does so to ‘destroy’. But, eventually this spirit begins to kill the adults as well, realizing that tactic is not working swiftly enough, so they begin targeting those who oppose the wickedness. The prophets wrote of it:

“In that day יהוה with His sore and great and strong sword will punish leviathan the slant serpent, and leviathan the tortuous serpent; and He will slay the dragon that is in the sea.” Is 27:1

“And he shall constantly harass the set apart ones of Elyon [The Most High].” Dan 7:25

“The dragon was infuriated over the woman and went off to fight the rest of her children, those who OBEY THE COMMANDMENTS of Elohim AND bear witness to Yeshua.”

“So it [the beast] opened its mouth in blasphemies against Elohim to insult His Name [יהוה] and his Sh’khinah, and those living in heaven; it was allowed to make war on the holy people of Elohim and to defeat them; and it was given authority over every tribe, people, language and nation.” Rev 13:6-7

“and it was allowed to cause anyone who would not worship the image of the beast to be put to death.” Rev 13:15

Notice the passive wording in the last two verses? “It was allowed to…” Elohim is allowing this. For what purpose? To bring ‘tribulation’ on HIS OWN PEOPLE! Those who confess Him, but do not obey Him! The ‘tribulation’ of the ‘end times’ is NOT for the wicked! It’s to make the people of Elohim choose one way or the other! It is to ‘sift’ wheat and tare. It is to PROVE who REALLY belongs to Him, and who is just giving Him ‘lip service’. It’s to bring a lukewarm heart to a point of decision, to make it either ‘hot’ or ‘cold’. And the beautiful thing is that many of His People finally will choose the right [Torah] and oppose wickedness, but it will be through fire. It will be through great affliction that the decision will finally be made to quit pandering to evil, compromising with it, mixing truth with lies. It will be through hardship like no one has ever known that will finally purify the people of faith to “OBEY THE COMMANDMENTS of Elohim AND bear witness to Yeshua!”

The US has more people per capita that confess to believe in the Messiah by conversion [not born into Catholicism]. At the same time, the US spends more money on wickedness than any other nation. The people of the US collectively elect officials who do not meet the requirements of “Shoftim”. The Torah tells us to put qualified people in charge of interpreting the law.

“They shall judge the people with righteous judgment. You shall not twist judgment; you shall not respect persons; nor shall you take a bribe; for a gift does blind the eye of the wise and pervert the words of the righteous. Justice, Justice shall you follow…”

Our lawmakers spend most of their time taking bribes/gifts, getting money written into laws to placate a few, so that they can guarantee their re-election. Many such other twisted things are done in the name of our law, it would take forever to expose all of it. But the point I want to make is that in spite of the number of people who call themselves believers in this country, the wickedness far outweighs the righteousness, even among believers. And the absence of worshipping G-d the way HE would have it and interpreting the scriptures the way Messiah taught us is one of the main reasons.

A child can see that S-nday is not the seventh day of the week; all he has to do is look at his calendar. A child soon learns that mommy and daddy are okay with lying to him, when he hears that ‘sant-a clau-se’ is not ‘real’. Most christian children eventually have to struggle with the reality that the Messiah was not born at ‘christmas’, but by the time he does, usually there is no sense of recognizing compromise, no realization that the original use of that day was for the celebration of the slaughter of babies, of Jews, and of sexual revelry, and that most of those customs today are the ones used to actually celebrate the ‘mass of the infant’; a mass is an execution, and this particular one was done at the base of trees on that day. Most kids understand that rabbits do not lay eggs, yet their parents insist that they hunt for eggs year after year, put there by the e’ster bunny, the two symbols of the fertility goddess, ‘Ishtar’ who was worshipped at ‘quartodecimen’, the catholic-calculated time of the roman goddess of fertility: Easter.  This was the religion of Constantine before AND after he took over and created ‘Catholicism’.

When the colonies were founded, these things were illegal. They were not celebrated here in large part for nearly 100 years after the revolution. But people abandoned that sense of ‘purity’, and yielded to ‘grace theology’ that ignores the fact that יהוה is STILL a jealous G-d, and does not want His people having ANYTHING to do with the likes of these.

The scriptures alone instruct us on how to approach G-d; and yes, it is by way of the Messiah Yeshua. But, Messiah Yeshua did not practice any of these things. He worshipped His Father on the seventh-day Sabbath in an assembly house, and NOT a ‘church’ on s-nday.
Luke 4:16, 6:6, John 6:59, 18:20

He kept the Passover, Matzot, Firstfruits, and Shavuot, teaching them as shadows of His own ministry on earth; He kept Yom Teru’ah, Yom Kippur and Sukkot [John 6-8]. He even kept Khanukkah [John 10]. He was born during Sukkot, in a sukka [not an animal shed], in the fall season of the “Light of the World”. He was The Word in Flesh, not “god in flesh”. His Father was still on His throne, and Yeshua communed with Him perfectly, but He was flesh and bone, tempted as every other man is. God cannot be tempted. He deferred all glory and allegiance to His Father, and did not claim perfect equality with Him: He testified that there were things only His Father knew. He is not ‘consubstantial’ with His Father, but is a glorified, resurrected MAN with a flesh and bone body, now standing at the right hand of His Father. Forever.

He does NOT like the practices of men’s religions [Rev 2-3] mixed with the pure faith of the Torah. But since the majority of believers in the US reject this knowledge, and perpetuate the practice of mixing paganism with worshiping the creator [some even believing that the creation was not done mightily in six days], this country will eat the fruit of its own making, and soon be shown that faithfulness and purity with G-d is what matters, and not a spirit of compromise and capitulation. The USA will at some point become a third-world, impoverished, nanny state, unless things change. Of this I have no doubt. It will be weakened to the point of being completely irrelevant in world politics. He has given us space to repent. But, will anyone truly ‘hear’ HIS VOICE [The Torah]?

It is noble when ‘christians’ site II Chronicles and assert “If my people, which are called by MY Name [יהוה  – see II Chron 7:12], will humble themselves and pray, and seek MY face, and TURN from their wicked ways, then I will hear in heaven, and I will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

But, there are several things that are not heeded when this verse is [mis]quoted.

It is יהוה speaking. The G-d of Avraham, Yitz’khak and Ya’akov, and NOT the god of Constantine. To “turn” is to RETURN to the Torah, since wickedness is defined by breaking the Torah.  Usually when quoting this verse, most leave off the ‘repent’ part of it.  Curious.

Christianity has been deceived for far too long; [Dan 9:4-19] but, there ARE many within the institutions of christianity who do know quite simply that Yeshua the Messiah is the Son of G-d, and that He died in their place for their sins against the Torah. It is to those I appeal. And they do strive to live circumspectly. But, in these last hours, He is calling those people out of harlotry, out of spiritual adultery, out of the mixing of paganism with the worship of the Almighty, out of religion for profit.

He put us in this place for His own reasons, just as He put Yisrael in Babylon for His own reasons, but He then called Yisrael OUT of Babylon so he could destroy it, and He is calling His people OUT of spiritual Babylon again: Babylon is the mixture of worshipping ‘whatever one wants’ with some truth. It is the spirit of compromise, which ALWAYS eventually puts a man at the top, deified, ‘infallible’, unchallenged. We are there in this country today, just as Rome was in 325AD. The ‘spirit’ of anti-Messiah has most people trapped. Do not be one of them. And do not think that a delay in turning from pagan worship will get you any ‘favor’. If the shofar sounds, and THE anti-Messiah rises to power, and you have not turned back to Torah, G-d HIMSELF will force you to believe THE LIE. What lie? That lie that the man at the top is “Jesus”. This anti-Messiah will say he is Jesus, and Buddah, and Mohammed, and god, and all that is holy. And you will believe him! Because יהוה will not allow you to ‘see’ THE LIE as a lie, but force you to believe it. Do you not hear that? G-D ALMIGHTY WILL FORCE YOU TO BELIEVE in the lying Messiah! II Thess 2:7-12.

“For the mystery of iniquity is already at work, until that which now hinders is taken out of the midst of them. Then shall the Wicked One be revealed, that one whom Adoneinu Yeshua shall consume with the breath of His mouth, and shall destroy with the revelation of His coming, even he whose coming is due to the working of HaSatan, with all power and signs and lying wonders, and with all deceitfulness of unrighteousness in those who perish, because they received not the love of HaEmet, that they might be saved thereby.  For this reason Elohim shall send them strong delusion that they should believe the lie, that all who did not believe in HaEmet, but preferred unrighteousness, might be condemned.”

HaEmet is “The Truth,” a biblical name for the Torah.  See Psalm 119.

Babylon is mixture religion: “Come out of HER my people, that you not be partakers of her sins, and that you receive not of her plagues”. Rev 18:4

Is it really so hard to realize that S-nday worship is OFFENSIVE to G-d?

“Also the gentiles that join themselves to יהוה , to minister unto Him, and to love the Name of יהוה , to be His servants, every gentile that keeps the Sabbath, from profaning it, and holds fast by My covenant: Even them will I bring to My holy mountain [above], and make them joyful in My house of prayer; their burnt-offerings and their sacrifices shall be acceptable upon My altar; for My house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples.” Is 56:6-7 [Also quoted in the ‘new testament’]

“And they that shall be of you shall build the old waste places, you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; and you shall be called the repairer of the breach, the restorer of PATHS to dwell in. IF you turn away your foot because of the Sabbath, from pursuing YOUR business on MY HOLY DAY; and call the Sabbath a delight, and the Kadosh One of יהוה honorable; and shall honor it, not doing your wonted ways, nor pursuing your business, nor speaking thereof; THEN shall you delight yourself in יהוה , and I will make you to ride upon the high places of the earth, and I will feed you with the heritage of Ya’akov your father; for the mouth of יהוה has spoken it.” Is 58:12-14

The ‘Sabbath’ is the SEVENTH DAY. HIS SABBATH was never changed. That is a LIE:

“And they set up FALSE witnesses [LIARS!] , which said, This man ceases not to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and against the TORAH: For we have heard him say that this Yeshua of Natzrat shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moshe delivered us.” Acts 6:13-14

“And when they heard [it], they glorified יהוה , and said unto him, You see, brother, how many thousands of Jews there are which believe [in Yeshua]; and they are all zealous for the Torah: And they are informed of you, that you [Sha’ul/Paul] teach all the Jews which are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses [Torah], saying that they ought not to circumcise their children, NEITHER TO WALK AFTER THE CUSTOMS.” Acts 21:20-21

IT WAS A LIE THEN; IT IS A LIE NOW!!!!!!

Is it so unpalatable to think that  יהוה , the Almighty, might not like His Children moving their ‘sabbath’ away from HIS Sabbath? The penalty for denying the Sabbath, for forgetting the Sabbath, was DEATH. Yes, Yeshua has removed from us the penalty [weight] of the Torah, because He bore OUR death penalty in His BODY; but, only until the JUDGMENT DAY. At that point, anyone who does not confess Him AND walk in His Ways will suffer the weight of the Torah and be denied by Yeshua. And yes, believers, any who reject His Ways, when they have learned of them, will endure the punishment, because they have proven that their faith is vain! “Depart from me, you breakers of Torah: I NEVER KNEW YOU!” Matt 7:21 , Luke 13:27. “DEPART FROM ME, you workers of iniquity, FOR I WILL KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS OF MY G-D”. Ps 119:115

Observance of the Torah, indeed, does not cause one to earn the gift of the Ruakh HaKodesh nor forgiveness of sin. Faith does. But, once one has that gift, that forgiveness, one is supposed to LEARN to walk as Messiah walked. “He that says he abides in Him [Yeshua] ought himself to walk HIS HALAKHA”. Halakha is a Jewish term that means “how one follows the Torah”. It gets lost in translation. Yeshua walked the Torah! He taught us how to walk it. It is now time for the Ru’akh to teach all of His followers how to do so. May we be so inclined! Wake up, and trim your lamp [your understanding of the Torah!].

“It is time for יהוה to WORK. For THEY have made void YOUR TORAH”. Ps 119.126

Constantine and the catholic/christian leaders did obliterated the Feasts and The Torah! NOT YESHUA! [Matt 5:17-19]

Yeshua’s whole ministry was about restoring people to the Torah, the Word of יהוה , rightly divided in guidance of the Ru’akh HaKodesh. Grace is completely misunderstood, with most people using it as an excuse for pandering to their sin-nature. We will ALWAYS fight our sin-nature, our human propensity to disobey G-d: but, we must FIGHT. The simplicity of the fight is given to us in Torah: “Stand still, and ‘see’ the Yeshua [Salvation] of יהוה .”

Yeshua has indeed given us His Ru’akh [Breath/”Spirit”]. For the purpose of showing us our infractions against the Torah [sins]! He does NOT want us blending the faith of G-d with paganism. If you have not ‘seen’ that yet, my prayer is that you do. And that you repent. Why is it when one calls for repentance in the people of Elohim, that one is attacked and hated? Yeshua explains it: they did not come to the Light [Torah/Messiah] because they LOVE their “po’alei aven”. Their ‘evil deeds’: their infractions against His Word/Torah. Do you love the traditions of MEN [Christmas, Easter, Halloween, Sunday worship, grace theology that does not deal with sin] so much that you cannot HEAR HIS VOICE? His VOICE is HIS TORAH!

“If you shall hearken to the VOICE of יהוה your G-d, so that you obey HIS mitzvot and regulations which are written in this BOOK OF TORAH, if you turn to יהוה your G-d with all your heart and all your being; For this mitzvah which I am giving you today is NOT TOO HARD FOR YOU, it is not beyond your reach. It isn’t in the sky, so that you need to ask, ‘Who will go up into the sky for us, bring it to us and make us hear it, so that we can obey it?’ Likewise, it isn’t beyond the sea, so that you need to ask, ‘Who will cross the sea for us, bring it to us and make us hear it, so that we can obey it?’ On the contrary, the WORD is very close to you – in your mouth, even in your heart; therefore, you can do it!

They Call Me “Daniel-son”

See the source image

I amuse myself.  I always have.  As the youngest of five, I suppose at times I had to, especially when all my siblings entered their ‘teens’ and I was still a single-digit dingo.  I spent a lot of time ‘in my head’ when I was a kid.  I still remember a song I made up in pig-latin, about karate.  Go figure.

Today, my musings are maybe far more sophisticated.  And instead of just being in my head, my heart communes with G-d.  Mostly, it’s me pouring out my supplications, asking Him to help me be more conformed into the image of His Son, without forcing it and being a religious nut that everyone avoids.  That’s difficult, because my walk of faith is so stark compared to most people I am around.  After doing ‘the prayers’, or while I’m taking my daily walks and not being assaulted, I’m doing my best to ‘meditate’ on His Word.  All of this is an effort to make sure that I know and love the Creator.  The closer I get to the Father, because of and through His Son, Yeshua, the more I ‘see’ that most people are really, indeed, in ‘darkness’.

And today, society worldwide basks in that darkness.  They celebrate illicit sex, gender distortion, perversion, filth, greed, meanness, rudeness, selfishness, lying, deceit, subterfuge, and the list goes on and on.  I’ve known this would happen, and even taught my children that it would, but in spite of trusting the Word of G-d and His warning about these things, I never thought I would see it turn SO FAST.  In less than a generation, foul language and sexual innuendo is on broadcast television, even during commercials, as if it does not negatively affect society.  Homosexuality is nearly the norm, and celebrated.  Fornication is the norm, and is actually expected by most who are seeking a spouse, or at least a ‘significant other.’  Manhood or Womanhood is now considered evil.  Hard work is frowned upon, and everyone wants a freebee, thinking society owes them a living.  The people that swore to report to us ‘news’ give us force-fed ‘opinion’, and refuse to believe that we can think for ourselves; and a big swath of society chooses not to think for themselves, even though they have the ability.

People do not read.  As a writer, this really bothers me.  We instead get our ‘information’ from 2 minute videos, sound-bites, bi-lines.  Education is no longer education, but indoctrination into the society of acceptance of everything, accepting all but an opinion different from society.  Like mine.  So, I amuse myself.

Declaring the ‘B’sorah’, the Good News of a body prepared for Messiah, executed in humility, and raised from the dead in the POWER of the Creator, takes a back seat to EVERYTHING.  It used to be people understood the importance of being reminded of this frequently; weekly.  Now, no one even wants to ponder it.  Those English and others who came to this continent originally did so for the express purpose of being able freely to declare and express the foundational truth of the Resurrection of Messiah, and man’s deep and perpetual need of redemption.  They created a society where egregious infractions against “The Ten” were frowned upon, and even illegal.  Now, to even suggest a return to some form of that is just about viewed as criminal.  If things continue, I will probably be jailed for what I believe, express, and teach.  So be it.

But, in my musings, I do not mourn for those who are in that darkness willfully.  I mourn for those who say they believe in the Son of G-d, and yet do not walk in His ‘light.’  They cannot even define it, even though in the “new testament” we are told to walk in it.  People are so uneducated in His Word, they do not know what that light really is.  It is subjective to them.  It is a ‘feeling’.  It has no definition.

Yet, I am excited!  Because this was all spoken of by Yeshua, the Son of G-d.  And, He, and everyone who wrote sacred writ through His Ru’akh [Spirit], told us that there would be very few who find the path that has light on it.

Last night during our study of Torah, we were reminded of the monumental nature of the resurrection of the Messiah Yeshua, the Son of G-d.  Without it, mankind is undone.  With it, the believer has within himself the very power of creation, if he genuinely trusts the Word of G-d, that says very plainly that He was raised from the dead.  THIS is the very source of all LIFE, especially the supernatural ‘life’ of the one who confesses trust in Yeshua.

Why do I use these Hebrew words?  Why do I read in Hebrew?  Why do I pray in Hebrew?  Why do I lace my speech with such ‘foreign’ flavor?  Because the Word of G-d is the only thing in this world that is absolutely pure and absolutely true.  And I simply want to understand it more fully.  I desired to know it without the filter of man and language, but ‘first hand.’  And while there are many that have a kernel of truth, they lack any substantial knowledge of HIM and His Nature.  I did.  I do not pretend to know everything, or to be perfect in any way, except that He has perfected me on the inside, in that intangible to man place called a nefesh and neshama, so that I can then pursue His perfection in this body I live in.  I only hope to help anyone who will ‘hear’ to do the same.

And I wish for people to know that it has all come full circle.  The spiral of time, that seems now to overwhelm us in darkness, is returning to a BEGINNING.  The beginning of the bodily, very PRESENT Reign of the man, Yeshua the Messiah, the SON of G-d, is nearly here.  And He has given us space to turn back to Him, to learn of him, and to be prepared to be received by Him as a Bride by her husband.  We now know Him in part, but then we shall be fully known, face to face.  Who would want to miss that, in order to bask in the darkness that is swallowing everyone, the elite down to the least.

People mock this, because in truth, they no longer believe in His absolute resurrection, and just as the Word says, they would mock even the possibility of His return, just before He comes back.  But, even IF He is not coming back for 100 years, I want to live separately from this corruption that is consuming people.  I want to see as much of a return to kindness, gentility, refinement, education, rightness, purity, and truth as can be mustered, even in a few.  And, the more I find myself becoming ‘differenter’ than I was yesterday, the happier I am, in spite of life’s challenges.  I have a secret, a cure, a treasure, that I can’t even give away! It is so ‘dark’ out there, people cannot ‘see’ it.

Anyway, I hope someone gets something out of these musings.  If only that they look to Yeshua for their SALVATION.  He truly is RAISED FROM THE DEAD and LIVING in heaven as a man once dead.  Everything that opposes that notion is from the deepest and darkest of evil sources, yet shrouded in the veil of ‘intellect’ or ‘logic.’  Arise.  Awake!  And Messiah WILL shine on YOU!

A Blast of Honey!

Today is the third day into the season of “Teshuva”, a time of self-examination and turning toward the Creator and His Ways, in preparation for ‘The Judgment of Rosh Hashana’, and the “Terrible Days” leading up to Yom Kippur. This year, we expect the ‘khodesh’ to be sighted on 09/11 before sundown, but it could be blotted out by clouds, so, we may not see the Khodesh and hear the actual subsequent blast of the shofar until the evening of 09/12.

Right now, all the nut-job profits [sic] are quiet, with no flurry of selling books predicting the ‘return of xrist’.  That’s both comforting and curious.

But, regardless of ‘when’ the “Last Shofar” from heaven is actually blown, it is always healthy to become a little introspective regarding our walk with Messiah and the Creator.  Kefa encourages us to do so, as does Sha’ul, and really all the writers of the Brit Khadashah scriptures.  And they record Yeshua’s many, many lessons about checking oneself to ‘see’ if his own ‘Emunah’ is genuine.

I am doing that.  Not because Yeshua ‘might’ send the Malakh to blow the Shofar next month [and He certainly COULD, as the prophecies that precede that event are all complete, imo], but because I want the Presence of the Creator and of His Son to manifest in me.  Whether or not Yeshua fetches His bride on this upcoming ‘Day of Weddings’, it is abundantly clear that people on this earth need all to ‘do teshuva’, or to ‘repent/turn toward G-d.’

I have taken notice of the ever increasing speed at which the world spirals into darkness, blindness, lasciviousness, and complete effrontery against what is RIGHT and TRUE.  And the majority of them think that theirs is a ‘new truth.’  That the idea of faith is a relic of the past, from a time when people were ‘uneducated’, ‘primitive’, etc.  But so many of these people yet believe things that simply are not true, without ever having studied for themselves what reality is.

I spend a big part of my life wooing people to obey G-d.  And admittedly, so very few respond.  So very, very many, most of whom ‘say’ they have a relationship with the Creator, do not actually respond to His Word.  They may have a relationship with His book, or with people who say they read His book, but so few follow “The Great Command” and ‘hear and do’ what His Word says, or trust in the simple fact that G-d is One, and His Name is distinct from that of all other gods: יהוה .

Seventeen years ago, this fall, on the anniversary of my parents’ wedding, and the same day that Yom Teru’ah should start this year, America was sitting in shock.  The night before, on 9/10, a Monday night, I sat my two young children down in our living room.  They were sitting on the floor right in front of me, and I told them I ‘felt’ I needed to read the following to them.

“Know this, that in the Akharit HaYamim [end of the days] disastrous times will come. And men shall be lovers of themselves and lovers of money, proud,  conceited, blasphemers, disobedient to their own people, ungrateful, wicked, false accusers, addicts to lust, brutal, haters of good things, traitors, hasty, boasters, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of Elohim; having a shade of the fear of Elohim, but far from the power of Elohim; from such turn away. For of this sort are those who creep into houses and captivate women sunken in sin, led away with diverse lusts, ever striving to learn, and never able to come to the knowledge of HaEmet [Jewish and Biblical synonym for Torah].”  I hope my children remember this night.

It was the next morning, a Tuesday, when, while at work, I heard the news of the destruction of the first tower.  I mumbled, “we are going to war,” and a woman nearby laughed at me haughtily, called me stupid, and said it was an accident.  And then the second plane hit.  Of course, she’s about cleared the cornfield of crows since that snide remark.

Just about every time I watch the news lately, or scroll through fb feeds, I am reminded of this passage.  People get colder and meaner, and more disrespectful every day.  And it is NOT just ‘unbelievers’.  I point out often that most people, say at least 70% of our country, ‘claim’ to believe in G-d, and even in His Son in some form, and yet these are the same people who spew hateful behavior incessantly, on the hiways, in the gyms, [my most frequent haunts], and even in the religious institutions.    A huge percentage of that same 70 support some form of baby murder, just because of the proximity of the baby’s head to the air.  Most of them also overtly support casual relationships versus a committed, covenant relationship before sexual union.  The biggest ‘xtian’ denomination was just defending 300+ pedophile priests who raped and molested too many boys and girls [one is too many, much less 300+], and their ‘sovereign’ excuses them, over and over.

Don’t get me wrong; I’m well aware of my flaws, and that I used to fit into that same category, practicing SOME of the behaviors that are condemned in those verses.  And I know I am still a work in progress, ‘pressing on toward the mark of the high calling of Elohim, which is in Messiah Yeshua.’   And, Abba willing, I will press on.

Seventeen years ago, after I read this passage to my children, I told them, “We are there now, but it is just going to get worse.” And I will never forget my daughter’s question: “What does ‘brutal’ mean?”  And I said, “It means cruel, killing for no reason.”  She was able NOT to fear the next day at school when they heard the news there, but in fact was an encourager to the other fourth-graders.

But, what I take note of this year is that Sha’ul’s letter admonishes Timothy to stay away from people who behave so, yet, the people he is specifying are people who SAY they believe, but do otherwise.  They have a ‘form’ of godliness, but no FEAR of the Creator.

There are so few people today who are actually looking at their own heart, and comparing their lives to the life of Messiah, His ‘walk,’ in order to examine themselves.  That is my encouragement.  Saying you believe is one thing. Doing the hard work of belief is entirely another.

“For if a man thinks himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself. But let every man examine his own work, and then may he glory within himself, alone, and not among others. For every man shall bear his own burden. Let him who hears HaDavar [Jewish and Biblical synonym for Torah] become a partaker with Him who teaches all good things. Do not be deceived; Elohim is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that shall he also reap. He who sows things of the flesh, from the flesh shall reap corruption [death]; he who sows things of HaRu’akh [The Breath/Spirit of G-d], from HaRu’akh shall reap life everlasting. Let us not be weary in good works; for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

The Torah shows us how to love G-d, and how to love our neighbor.  Yeshua preached that.  We love G-d by doing the first five of the Ten D’varim, and our neighbor by the last ones.  So many pay so little attention to the first five, and so they fail miserably at the last five.  And Ya’akov tells us that we can’t say we do the first five, if we do not do the last ones!

There is so much that could be said on this topic.  But, I don’t have time.  Galatim 5 tells us what the works of the flesh are, as does this list in 2 Tim above.   Comparing oneself to His Word is the ONLY way properly to do teshuva [turn to G-d and obey Him].  I am encouraging myself and every reader to do just that.  Take a fresh look at the Creator, and at yourself, during these days leading up to the “Last Shofar.”  It may or may not be THE “Last Shofar” this year, but do you want to take that chance?  We have a greeting during this season that replaces just “Shalom”: “L’Shana Tova umetukah” is the short version of it.  “Have a good and sweet year”.  The formal, longer form of it is: L’shanah tovah tikatevu v’tichatemu.”  “Have a good [new] year, and may you be inscribed and sealed” [into the Book of Life].  If it is that Last Shofar this year, we hope for the latter for certain; if not, we hope for both.

Make it that way, by doing teshuva, and turning your whole heart toward the Creator and His Son, יהוה Yeshua HaMashiakh.

We read the prayers of Daniel 9:4-19 and Psalm 27 in addition to our other prayers daily during this season.

Turn Around!

The season of Teshuva begins tonight at sundown, if the khodesh is seen.  It is the season of repentance, in preparing for the Judgments of Yom Teru’ah [Rosh Hashanah] and Yom Kippur.

This season also prepares one for the sanctity of those annual days.

As we are indeed in the “Akharit HaYamim,” the Last Days, we need to be reminded of this:

“Now the Ru’akh distinctly says that in the last days some will remove from the faith, and will go after deceiving spirits, and after doctrines of demons.”

We must be careful of new and shiny things in the world of ‘religion.’

Thus says יהוה : stand in the ways and see, and ask for the OLD paths, ‘where is the GOOD way?’ And walk therein, and you shall find rest for your souls. But some said: ‘We will not walk therein.’

One of those is critical, very, to this upcoming season.

There is a trend in some of the ‘two-house’ leaning circles in Messianic “Judaism” that says we should not ‘fast’ on Yom Kippur, because that is what Jews do, and the word in Leviticus 23 does not say ‘fast’, but ‘afflict’, which only means to humble oneself. On the surface, this doctrine sounds lofty, sounds ‘holy’, and sounds like an honest attempt to get to truth. Unfortunately, this is rooted in lack of scholarship, and in anti-Semitism, and the hatred/mistrust of all doctrines of Jews, just because they are “Jewish.” They forget that Yeshua showed up and worked within the framework of 1st Century “Jew”daism during His ministry, and would not violate its ‘customs’ unless those customs violated the Torah. And He shows us clearly the way to decide of a custom violates Torah.  This one certainly does not.  We ARE to fast on Yom Kippur.

Yeshua kept the Jewish customs, the ones that did not contravene Torah. The custom of fasting is less a custom and more a command, though to us who are so far removed from the word ‘afflict’, we do not see that “anah”, conjugated as “anitem et nafshoteikhem”, actually does mean to fast, and scripture proves it. We assume sometimes that “Strong’s Concordance”, a lexicon published in AD 1890 by a Methodist protestant, is the ‘authoritative source’ on Hebrew. That is a DANGEROUS assumption, and discredits mountains of other Hebrew scholarship, and does NOT take into account what ancient JEWS used words for and how THEY understood them, including Yeshua.

Further, Stephen, Shaul, and the rest of the Shlikhim, were FALSELY accused of wanting to do away not only with Moshe [Torah], but with the CUSTOMS established in Yisrael. Pay attention: these were FALSE ACCUSATIONS!

“There they set up false witnesses who said, “This man never stops speaking against this holy place and against the Torah; for we have heard him say that Yeshua from Natzeret will destroy this place and will change the customs Moshe handed down to us.” Acts 6:13-14

“On hearing it, they praised Elohim; but they also said to him, ‘You see, brother, how many tens of thousands of believers there are among the JEWS, and they are all zealots for the Torah. Now what they have been told about you is that you are teaching all the Jews living among the Goyim to apostatize from Moshe, telling them not to have a b’rit-milah [commandment] for their sons and not to follow the CUSTOMS. What, then, is to be done? They will certainly hear that you have come. So do what we tell you. We have four men who are under a vow. Take them with you, be purified with them, and pay the expenses connected with having their heads shaved. Then everyone will know that there is nothing to these rumors which they have heard about you; but that, on the contrary, you yourself stay in line wtih and keep the Torah.” Acts 21:21-24

We see here, then, that keeping the customs/traditions was part of keeping Torah, in the minds of TENS OF THOUSANDS of JEWS who believed in Yeshua! And Shaul did NOT repudiate them, but agreed with them. He also declared that he kept both the Torah and the CUSTOMS, years later when he was defending himself:

“In reply, Sha’ul said, “I have committed no offense – not against the Torah to which the Jews hold, not against the Temple, and not against the Emperor.”” Acts 25:4

“Sha’ul called a meeting of the local Jewish leaders. When they had gathered, he said to them: “Brothers, although I have done nothing against either our people or the traditions of our fathers, I was made a prisoner in Yerushalayim and handed over to the Romans. They examined me and were ready to release me, because I had done nothing to justify a death sentence. But when the Jews objected, I was forced to appeal to the Emperor – not that I had any charge to make against my own people.” Acts 28:17-19

There is a lot to see in these two passages. First, that he did nothing against the “Temple”; the temples embodied many ‘customs’ that were not explicit in Torah, but that went hand in hand with Torah commands. You will see, one of these was fasting on Yom Kippur. Next, we see that, again, Shaul declares that he himself did nothing against the ‘traditions’/customs of ‘our fathers’, the JEWS. He is defending his obedience to JEWISH CUSTOM, even AFTER he became a believer in Messiah Yeshua. Check the book of Acts from about chapter 13 through the end, and you will see Shaul keeping customs. One of them was Synagogue attendance on Shabbat. There is no direct command to go to a Synagogue. Why, then, do we see Yeshua, Kefa and the 11, Shaul, and many tens of thousands of Messianic Jews doing so? We can also see that in the Jewish mind, the death penalty was justified for breaking CUSTOMS. Not just commands; why? Because in their minds, the customs were ‘how’ to keep the commands. They were not separate. Again, the ones Yeshua opposed were the ones that replaced or prevented actually keeping the commands. The ones that supported the commands, He upheld, as did Shaul and all the Talmidim of Yeshua.

Now, to fasting on Yom Kippur itself, the command reads this way:

“Howbeit on the tenth day of this seventh month is the Day of Atonement [Yom HaKippurim]; there shall be a holy convocation unto you, and you shall afflict your souls [anitem et nafshoteikhem]; and you shall bring an offering made by fire unto Yahu’ah.”

Those teaching that this does not mean fast assert that since a Methodist preacher decided it only means “afflict”, they can discard the rest of scripture concerning the Hebrew use of this word and ignore the “custom” of fasting on Yom Kippur. That is a DANGEROUS day to tinker with!
Ezra shows us how this word means to fast.

“Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahava, that we might afflict ourselves before Eloheinu, to seek of Him a right way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance.” Ezra 8:21

The word for ‘fast’ here is “tzom”, which is the root word for ‘abstaining from food’, lest there be any doubt about what Ezra is recording. It is followed by the phrase, “L’hitanot lifnei Eloheinu”, or “afflict ourselves before Eloheinu”. So, the fasting was done for the purpose of ‘afflicting’. Indeed, Biblical ‘affliction’ is ‘hunger’, and this is seen in many hundreds of uses of the word in the Tanak.

Let’s make sure this holds up with more than one witness, however:

“But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into my own bosom.” Psalm 35:13

“And if you draw out your soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall your light rise in obscurity, and your darkness be as the noonday..” YeshaYahu 58:10

“In those days I Daniel was mourning three whole weeks. I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled…. Then said he unto me: ‘Fear not, Daniel; for from the first day that you did set your heart to understand and to afflict yourself before Eloheikha, your words were heard…’” Daniel 10:2-3, 12

“Blow the shofar in Tzion, sanctify the fast, call a solemn assembly…” Yoel 2:15

So, we now have four scriptural witnesses that clearly show us that in many cases the word ‘anah’ is used to indicate that FASTING is the “how” we do the ‘afflicting/humbling’. In Yoel, this is the second shofar of the fall season, and the ‘fast’ is accompanied with the assembly of weeping and supplication, and this has long been seen by Jews as Yom Kippur, the Great Shofar. This was NOT a later “Jewish” concept, but a deeply rooted Torah concept. Moshe taught the Jews this, that ‘afflict’ in the context of Yom Kippur meant ‘fast’, and the prophets echoed it. It is not a “Jewish”, Talmudic custom, as many in so-called “Messianic” circles are now teaching.

This is further born out in the Mishnah, a document that was compiled in the late 2nd/early 3rd century. The Mishnah is the writing down of the orally taught ‘customs’ that were used in the Temple during the Second Temple period. Messiah Yeshua went to that Temple to observe the customs, and to show how those customs pointed to Himself. The customs of our Jewish people are very, very important. The Mishnah is NOT the Talmud. These were the students of people like Gamliel in the Brit Khadasha, who wrote down their teachings about Temple service one generation after they passed. It is the closest we can get to understanding ‘how’ they did things.

In the Mishnah, in Tractate Yoma, which explains how Yom Kippur was conducted in the Temple by the priesthood, we see very clearly that the 1st century JEWS observed a FAST in order to AFFLICT their souls before Elohim as commanded. [Yisrael was made up primarily of the tribes of Jewdah, Benjamin, and Levi, but small remnants of all the other tribes as well, and they were all called JEWS/YISRAELIS interchangeably. Two-housers can’t wrap their head around that, and it thwarts their doctrine]

In “Perek 4” of the Yoma Tractate, we read:

“But this day he scooped them out with a gold one [and was not required to empty one to the other] and with it he would bring it in [and offer it, thus conserving energy for the High Priest on this fast day]. On all other days he would….”

Here, we learn that on Yom Kippur, the High Priest is fasting, and his duty with the ashes is modified to accommodate his fast. This is the first mention in this tractate of the fast. In other words, there must have been a common understanding in Yisra’el that they fasted, that the Mishnah did not need to explain what “anitem nafshoteikhem”/afflict your souls meant! It was simply stated as a matter of fact that the High Priest was fasting that day!

We see this same defacto understanding in Perek 6, where we read:

“At each booth they would say to him, here is food and water, not that it ever happened that one needed to break his fast, rather, it was a comfort for the person to know that it was there, if needed.”

This is describing the journey of the escort for Azazel, the ‘goat for Azazel’ [known incorrectly as the “scapegoat”]. This escort was offered food, but no escort EVER took it! This is on Yom Kippur, when he is escorting Azazel to the cliff. This also shows us that there was a ‘defacto’ understanding that everyone fasted on Yom Kippur, not just the High Priest.

Then, in Perek 8 we read:

“since the Torah states regarding Yom Kippur, “You must afflict yourselves”, one consuming less than the bulk of a large date including its pit does not alleviate the affliction of fasting…”

Here, we are reading how fasting applies to ALL YISRAEL, and how it is EQUATED with ‘anah’, or “affliction”/”humbling” oneself. Again, the fact that one fasted is never mentioned, but it is treated as if everyone in Yisrael understood it this way, and it is showing some mercy on the part of Elohim and Moshe, saying that food the size of a date’s bulk is permitted in emergencies!

Again, Yeshua adhered to these customs, all the Shlikhim did, suffering and dying in never ‘admitting’ to the lies that they violated Torah AND Customs, and the biblical proof that ‘anitem et nafshoteikhem’ actually means ‘fast’ is more than sufficient. There are many, many other scriptures where ‘anah’/afflict’ is used in the context of HUNGER. Those teaching that Yom Kippur is NOT a fast are in serious error. It is NO SURPRISE to us that this doctrine is coming from TWO HOUSERS.

Our congregational Halakha on Yom Kippur is that WE FAST IN HUMILITY on that day. “How can two [or more] walk [share halakha, halakha meaning ‘your walk’ ] TOGETHER, unless they are in agreement?” If you’re ‘walking’ with those who teach this and other doctrines, please prayerfully consider the wisdom of the Prophets instead.

Life’s Happy Door – Part 2

See the source image

Many will not appreciate what I am about to write.  But, there is encoded into the Hebrew scriptures multiple layers of interpretation.  Many do not accept that, errantly thinking that everything the Jewish people believe is wrong.  Yeshua told a young Jewish Rabbi, “You are not far from the Kingdom of Elohim,” when he had a conversation with him about the two greatest commands.  Even a Jewish Rabbi, who was already in error because of manmade doctrine, yet had SOME truth.  When it comes to the pure word of Elohim, our Jewish people do understand some things the rest of the world does not, because of the rest of the [theological] world swinging the pendulum too far away from the Jewish nature of Yeshua.  He IS a Rabbi: the Rabbi of those who walk HIS ‘halakha’ [how He walks THE TORAH, I Jo 2:6].

So, what do I mean by this title, “Life’s Happy Door”?

Let me give you the ‘back story’ first.  We have studied the Aramaic Peshitta Brit Khadashah [NT] scriptures for the last 10 years.  Having become fluent in Hebrew, it is relatively easy to read the Aramaic texts, since these are sister languages.  These texts have existed since the earliest days, and after having studied them for 10 years, we are convinced they preceded the Greek texts, and the internal evidence of that continues to mount as we study.  One of the biggest evidences of that is the use of the Name, יהוה , in the Aramaic texts.  Had these texts been translated FROM Greek to Aramaic, there would not be such ‘surgical’ variation in the use of MarYah versus Maran in the place of Greek’s ‘kurios’.

Another such internal proof is the use of the word “Khesed” versus “Khen.”

The greek translators seemed to have changed the word ‘khesed’ to ‘karis’ almost every time.  It’s simply not the best translation of this word.  This seems to play into the idea that ‘grace’ is a license to sin [go against the Torah, 1 Jo 3:4] even though Sha’ul specifically said it is not a license to sin [Rom 6:15].  They are replacing ‘compassion’ with ‘grace’, many times over.  The ‘khesed’, or ‘compassion’ of Elohim is the source of His ‘khen’, or ‘unmerited gift of favor’.  This seems to be left out, virtually, of the greek texts, and hence every English translation rendered from them, and so there is an overuse and abuse of His free gift.  Indeed, many trample on the blood of His Sacrfice by continuing in all manner of sin, not the least of which is forgetting His Sabbath and not keeping it set-apart, thinking that ‘grace’ frees them from the goodness of keeping His Mitzvot.

Most people who genuinely believe have a ‘sense’ about the bowels of His compassion, how passionately the Creator loves us; but they don’t really grow to understand the depth of His forgiveness for our opposition to Torah and the free gift of His favor, or they would grow in their understanding of His Unity with us, and be compelled to do the things HE said to do, and ONLY those things.  Yeshua, the perfectly expressed image of the Creator, said it: “If you love me, you will keep MY Mitzvot.”  Instead, they use ‘grace’ as an excuse to impose Socratic logic on the texts, relegate these words of Yeshua down to a mamby-pamby excuse that He was not speaking of Torah, but instead, of His own two ‘special’ and ‘new’ commands, and they dismiss HIS SABBATH, and dismiss HIS WAY, in order to keep Yeshua the Messiah locked in a greek-thinking world, imprisoning themselves to a shallow faith riddled with pagan myth and vain philosophy in a ‘christology’ that is extra-biblical.  That faith may indeed ‘save’ them from the destruction to come, because the Khesed of Elohim is indeed bigger than the whims and error of men, for those who do know that it is the revealed Son of Elohim and His blood that cleanses, and trust in His resurrection that saves.  But, it is His KHESED that compels us to believe in the first place, and also to OBEY HIM FULLY.  To ‘attach’ to HIM, and desire to BE LIKE HIM, and TRULY walk HIS HALAKHA, or ‘how HE walked THE TORAH’; again, He IS a Rabbi.  The ONLY Rabbi.

The word KHESED is indeed RIFE with layers of meaning.

חסד

Each Hebrew letter, by itself, has layers of ‘meaning.’  Each letter is a symbol of a concept.  And each three-letter root is also a symbol of a verbal root concept, out of which derives all the meanings of the words that come from that root.  This word, ‘Khesed”, which gets translated by most as either kindness or ‘mercy’, is a root word.  A better understanding of the word is the KJV “lovingkindness”, but, like other translators, they were not completely consistent in rendering it that way.  We contend that ‘compassion’ is the best English rendering of “Khesed,” and hope to give our reasons why.

The first letter is the letter ‘khet,’ and it is the eighth letter in the Hebrew ‘alef-bet’.  It is, therefore, the symbol for ‘infinity’, much like our number 8 is when turned on its side.  This is because the number seven in Hebrew means ‘completion of time.’  This letter’s name, ‘khet’, is rooted in ‘khai’, which means ‘life.’  It is made up of two other symbols/letters, the ‘resh’ and the ‘vav’, which are a ‘head’ and a ‘nail’ or a ‘ruler’ and a ‘righteous man’. So, the first letter in our root has in it the symbol for ‘eternal life of a righteous ruler’.  The next letter is the ‘samekh’, and its name is from ‘samakh’ which means ‘firmly support,’ ‘lean against,’ where we get our phrase ‘lay hands on’.  It is almost a homonym to ‘same’akh’, which means ‘happy’.  The symbol is representative of a spiral.  The samekh carries the value of sixty, and the dalet, the last letter in khesed, a value of four, and the resulting 64 is a multiple of 8, or infinity x infinity, hence an extension of infinity, if that is at all possible.

Since the ‘samekh’ is a spiral, we can see a picture here of a righteous, eternal being bringing life ‘down’, and he is a ‘door.’  There are many, many ways to ‘see’ this word in these deeper levels, and this does NOT violate the ‘plain’ meaning of it: ‘compassionate kindness’, or simply, compassion.

This root word is also the root for the ‘fuller’ word ‘khasid’, which means ‘devout one’, or one devoted passionately to something; in the biblical context, it is passionate devotion to  יהוה .  Many translations render this word as ‘saint,’ which is entirely wrong linguistically.  The word ‘khasid’ adds a yod after the samekh, which would give us, ‘a righteous, eternal one’ [his] hand [on the] [is the] door of life’.  OR, “Eternal life is established through a door.”

All of this is very, very interesting, and just enhances the meaning of the word, “compassion, ‘loving kindness’.  It is clearly a picture of ‘salavation’, or eternal life free of sin through the door, Messiah Yeshua.  Changing it for the greek for ‘karis’ seems suspect, at this point, their having done it so many times.    The translators from Aramaic to Greek seemed to have all but wiped out this word from the text.  That is troubling.

There are many, many verses where the Peshitta and the Greek ‘disagree’ on this word, and it does somewhat affect the thinking.  Many times ‘khesed’ is rendered in the greek as ‘karis’, and so the reader gets too broad a use of ‘grace’ from the context.  Is it possible this is why the ‘grace’ of so many seems to ‘set them free’ from obedience to the simple instructions of the texts?

Some critical verses where karis was used and not a better word for “khesed” are:

Romim 5:15 and Romim 5:20-21

We will render them as they should be:

“If therefore, because of the fall of one [Adam], many died, how much more will the compassion and gift of Elohim, because of one man, Yeshua HaMashi’akh, be increased for many?”

The compassion is the reason, the cause for the gift.  The gift itself is defined a few verses later as the ‘forgiveness of sins,’ which is ‘grace.’

“The introduction of the Torah caused sin to increase, and when sin had increased, compassion became abundant. Just as sin had reigned through death, so compassion shall reign through tzedaka to eternal life by Adoneinu Yeshua HaMashi’akh.”

Grace, ‘the gift’ of the forgiveness of sins did not “abound,” COMPASSION did.  What is the difference?  EVERYONE is under His compassion right now, otherwise He’d have already judged the world.  But NOT everyone has reacted to the compassion of His offering Messiah, to receive the free gift of grace, the forgiveness of sins.

So many people operate under the notion that grace is the gift of never having to face the consequences of sin, ever again, and that it does not matter what one does, because G-d has lavished the free gift of his grace on the whole world.  No.  He has bountifully poured out His compassion, which causes Him to wait patiently, hoping that everyone comes to do teshuvah, or ‘repentance,’ and thereby then receive the gift of His Grace: the forgiveness of sin, and the gift of a clean record before the Creator at the judgment.

The modern teaching on ‘grace’ is so fraught with misunderstanding that many people think that Elohim never showed/demonstrated the gift of ‘grace’ before Messiah Yeshua appeared.  They think that the verse in Yokhanan 1 was a monumental shift in G-d, where we read in most translations, ‘For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by….’  There is a lot wrong with this little verse in this rendering, and in the application of it by most.  First, most people do not realize this is a very ‘Jewish’ verse, referencing another very important scripture in the Torah:  the “thirteen attributes” of G-d.  When Moshe desired to know who it was that G-d would send with him, He visited him, picked him up, put him in the cleft of the rock [an allusion to Yeshua], and said, “ יהוה , יהוה  , El, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in compassion [our word ‘khesed’] and truth; keeping compassion unto the thousandth generation; forgiving iniquity and transgression, and sin, and pardoning.”  Reader, please understand, this is the Creator describing HIS OWN HEART.  Doing so 2,000 years before Messiah came.  “I am  יהוה , I do not change!”  So, Yokhanan is not saying that suddenly G-d is going to dole out grace to anyone who winks at Him.  He is saying that the deep, affectionate love of the Creator is best demonstrated in His sending His Son.  English translators go so far as to add the word ‘but’ to further skew the reader’s mind, to put grace and truth in contrast to the Torah of Moshe, when NOTHING could be futher from the truth.  And that is exactly how most perceive things, especially given their faulty interpretation of the Book of Romans.  Most good translations of Yokhanan at least show the reader through italics that ‘but’ was inserted, ‘for clarity’ they say, though more for inserting doctrine, since ‘but’ is not in the original text.  But few readers care to look at the meaning without the inserted word.  Fewer still care to check and see if ‘karis’ is really the proper word here, or to acknowledge that this is a Torah reference in the first place.  And many will not admit that in those 13 Attributes, He is seen as both GRACIOUS [full of grace] and COMPASSIONATE [full of compassion].  In fact, He is seen as the ‘guardian of compassion’.  “Notzer Khesed.”  This, too, is an allusion to Yeshua, since ‘notzer’ is the SAME root as “Natzri”, meaning, ‘from Nazareth.’

It is the overuse and subsequent cheapening of His Grace that has caused mankind not to understand His KHESED, His deep, unfathomable lovingkindness that is expressed in His giving us His Son through death and resurrection.  When one comes to understand even just a little how much the Creator loves them, because He expresses that LOVE and DEVOTION in His son, then one truly receives His ‘khen,’ BECAUSE of His KHESED.

Khesed, then, is truly the door of the establishment/happiness of life eternal.  When we perceive that, khesed is then stirred in us, and we want to thank Him for it.  We want to show others that door.  We ourselves yearn to give it away, just as He did.
